Kayleigh Fletcher receiving a cheque from Barbara Oliver from money raised during Tony Oliver's year as Master of Shoeburyness Lodge accompanied by Charity Steward W.Bro Ian Hunt and DC W.Bro Roy Bryant.
Cancer is no respecter of age, gender or creed and to this end we need the best treatment that can be obtained to help us combat and cope with this devastating disease.
In this area we are blessed with a first class oncology department at Southend Hospital and an efficient, knowledgeable and caring unit for chemotherapy, The Carlingford Unit.
Having received treatment in this unit is my reason for my charity support during my year as Master. I hope that all who can, will give their full support.

On Wednesday 14th February, after a very good initiation ceremony for our newest brother, the IPM W.Bro Ian Hunt was extremely pleased to present a cheque for £2000.00 to his chosen charity Myeloma UK.
The donation was received on behalf of Myeloma UK, by Katrina Maitland and Rachel Tolley, senior haematology nurses at Southend University Hospital cancer day wards accompanied by Marie Pehaligon-Hunt, the IPM,s wife who is living with Myeloma.
After a short talk on Myeloma by the nurses and a thank you to the brethren for the support by Marie Penhaligon-Hunt, W.Bro Ian Hunt presented the ladies with the cheque together with bunches of red roses (just to make Valentine's Day)

that I am supporting during my year is Southend Mencap’s ‘The Music Man
Within three years The Music Man Project has become the UK’s only full time permanent music education service specifically for people with a learning disability.
The Music Man Project operates a Special School Music Hub for children, daily music classes for adults, teaching, consultancy, training for schools, colleges and care homes, along with the continuation of the Saturday Southend Mencap Music School that was founded in 2001. It has been commended by the Prime Minister for its ability to change lives, and has potential to be duplicated across the country. OFSTED has described The Music Man Project as outstanding for its work in Special Schools.
The Music Man Project aims to provide the same quality of music education, enjoyment and opportunities to perform as afforded to the “mainstream”, and to all ages.
